Spring Cleaning? Donate Your Stuff!

The Franklin Township Historical Society is requesting donations for its upcoming “indoor yard sale,” to be held June 6th at the Franklin Township Civic League, 8822 Southeastern Ave. Proceeds from the sale will be used to help repair and maintain the Society’s Meeting House, built in 1871 and located at 6510 S. Franklin Road. The 144-year-old building needs a number of things, including a new roof.

Donations of books, dishes, lawn chairs, tools, small working appliances, home decor, garden/patio items, framed pictures, toys, small or easily movable pieces of furniture and all sorts of household items would be helpful, but take note that the sale is NOT accepting clothing of any kind. (If you have antique clothing, furs or hats, the Historical Society will consider those on an individual basis.) Donations will be accepted at the Civic League building on Friday, June 5th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those who have items to donate but are unable to drop them that day may make other arrangements prior to that date by calling (812) 267-4651.

Because the Society is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, donors can receive a tax receipt for specific donations upon request.
