Recently, The Southside Times mistakenly ran an archive article from 2019 that included a list of upcoming FTHS events. After seeing this list, a couple of other local periodicals also reprinted these items in their upcoming events column. Please note that this list is five years out of date. Some of the items listed (such as the Harvest Dinner) are taking place on different dates this year.
We have also had a number of people express interest in the Vintage Technology Show mentioned in the article. The 2019 exhibit was a special event that featured many pieces on loan from private owners and collectors. While we would like to offer a similar exhibit again at some point, it takes quite a bit of advance planning, setup, and logistical work to make it happen, so unfortunately it cannot be offered annually.
While the published events were incorrect, we do have a lot happening in the last part of 2024! Our upcoming events for the rest of this year include:
- September 1-27 (public library hours): “On The Campaign Trail” exhibit of election memorabilia in the display case at the Franklin Road Library
- September 7, 2:30 p.m.: Historic Big Run Cemetery guided tour
- October 17, 6:00 p.m.: Ghost Stories at the Meeting House
- November 2, 12:00 p.m.: Harvest Dinner and Silent Auction
- December 7, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Christmas in Wanamaker
Information about these events and more is available on our Events Calendar, which you can always check to verify our upcoming activities.
