Harvest Luncheon & Historical Marker Photos

Our Harvest Luncheon on October 21 was a rousing success! Highlights of the luncheon included guests from the Indiana School for the Deaf and the Indiana Deaf History Museum, a special Skype presentation by Doug Stringham of Utah Valley University, piano music by James Kemp, and a silent auction of gift baskets donated by area businesses. Special thanks to Allied Appliances, Wanamaker Feed & Seed, Mascari Cleaners, Pleasant View Orchard, Wanamaker Flowers, Focus Therapeutic Massage, Avanti Hair Design, Li’s Garden Restaurant, Canines In Action, and the Historic Artcraft Theatre for their contributions.

The new historical marker, titled “Gallaudet Station: The Town That Never Happened,” was revealed and dedicated, as well. The marker gives the history of the failed town, and was erected in part in honor of our late president emerita Sylvia C. Henricks, whose granddaughters helped unveil the marker. The marker is located at 5605 S. Franklin Road, near the historic site of the Gallaudet railroad siding.
